Finally a night-time shot of Sona. Michael’s in his cell, feeding a rat out on the grounds. I hate rats. Seriously. Ew. It looks like Michael’s trying to figure out whether the guards sleep on the job at night. The answer? They do not. But they do shoot rats. Michael looks disturbed. Perhaps he joined PETA pre-Fox River.
Mahone, meanwhile, is picking up dirty cups from the ground. Oh, Sona doesn’t exactly look like a disorganized hell-hole, but if all the men drink from dirty cups they picked up off the ground then that place is crawling with bacterial infection. Mahone wants an update on the breakout plan but Michael, who’s finally learned to stand up for himself after two seasons of prison, running and then prison again, tells him to back away.
A new prisoner enters Sona. Is it just me, or does the new prisoner look like the Mexican version of Martin Short? I’m going to call him Mexican Martin until I find out his real name. Sammy (one of Lechero’s flunkies) gives Mexican Martin a friendly Sona welcome.
Linc is visiting Michael and Michael isn’t impressed that Lincoln gave up Whistler’s bird book to Susan. Lincoln continues to lie about Sara’s currently headless predicament. Michael announces that he’s going to be breaking out in the middle of the afternoon tomorrow. Ohhhh, I can tell this isn’t going to end well.
Mexican Martin awakens from his beating to find that he’s been stripped of all of his nice clothes. He also seems to recognize Whistler. I hope Mexican Martin turns out to be as funny as the real Martin Short.
Michael’s asking McGrady for a watch and binoculars. In order to procure the binoculars, Michael’s going to have to do some light thievery. Michael then explains the escape plan to Whistler. He also uses some chalk to draw a diagram of the escape plan on the floor. No, seriously. HE DRAWS THE ESCAPE PLAN ON THE FLOOR. Just in case any other prisoners might be interested in breaking out of Sona. *sigh* Michael, I get that you’re some kind of a genius, but seriously, have you learned nothing from the last two years? You’re leaving around too many clues. Whistler doesn’t seem too confident in Michael’s plan, which also includes using a soccer game as cover.
Lincoln and Sofia are bickering like an old married couple who don’t routinely break people out of prisons back at Lincoln’s hotel room. Susan calls and reminds Linc of the timeline. Susan’s making some notes on a piece of paper and she’s writing down times. I have no idea what this means. Susan reminds him that they’ve got 34 hours to break Whistler out.
Sucre’s cruising down the streets when he’s approached by some strange men in a black SUV. These men want Sucre to smuggle something into Sona and offer him money in return. Oh Sucre, are you going to become a drug mule? Is this what you’ve been reduced to? Yes, it is, because Sucre takes the package.
Bellick’s befriending Mexican Martin. He’s giving Mexican Martin a warning on how not to be a pompous ass and make enemies of everyone in Sona.
Michael and Whistler are prompting gay rumors galore by hanging a sheet in Michael’s cell so people can’t watch them spying on the guards, much like Sucre and Michael used to do in Fox River when Michael went into the walls. I wonder if Michael misses having Sucre for a cellmate. I know I miss Sucre being in on the action. We see that Michael has split the binoculars into two pieces, so both he and Whistler can spy on the guards. Michael also tells Whistler that Mahone’s in on the plan now, for reals.
Nun McHoochie, meanwhile, pays Lechero a visit.
Whistler and Mahone are spying on a guard when Whistler notices that the sun does blind the guard around 3:12 p.m. Mahone leaves to check on Michael and notices that Mexican Martin seems suspicious. Whistler’s describing the guard to Michael and Michael has an idea for distracting another guard, which includes disrupting his TV signal. Now that’s just mean. We also see that Mexican Martin was spying on the boys. I’m so disappointed. Mexican Martin hasn’t been even remotely funny yet. Mahone confronts Mexican Martin, trying to act all tough, and scare him off.
Linc and Sofia are taking a nice drive through the jungle. Their drive is cut short by the police who claim that they’re driving on a private road and make the unfortunate announcement that every road around Sona for 2 miles is closed. Oy, Michael is gonna be sooooo pissed. The cops let them off with a warning. Linc shows that he’s smarter than he looks and starts to come up with a Plan B.
Michael, meanwhile, is acting like a thief again, only this time he’s lifting a microwave. Unfortunately, he’s not a very good thief and the microwave has to remain for now.
Lincoln purchases some mysterious “supplies” in a blue cooler and tells Sofia they’re going to a beach.
Nun McHoochie tells Lechero that Augusto (Lechero’s cousin, maybe?) isnt paying for Nun McHoochie’s services anymore. Lechero isn’t interested in paying for sex. But apparently he’s ok with having sex with hookers.
Sucre, the new drug mule, hides the mysterious package in with the food headed for Sona.
Whistler’s afraid that The Company is going to kill him when he gets out, or hands over whatever information it is that they want. Michael tells Whistler that their friendship ends the moment they’re over that wall and he really doesn’t care what happens to Whistler after that. I don’t blame, Michael. Look at what happened to all those other guys he befriended during the Fox River escape. Most of them ended up dead.
We see that the mysterious package has arrived in Sona, but no one seems to notice. T-Bag, meanwhile, continues in his roll of drug-pusher and tries to sell some stuff to Mahone. Sammy retrieves the mysterious package from the crate of food.
Michael and Whistler have managed to successfully steal the microwave while Mahone is tripping out on some drugs. While he’s staring dreamily out of the window he seems to notice something important and takes out his paper cup that he found earlier on the floor.
Michael’s giving Whistler a lesson on EMPs (electromagnetic pulse). Did you guys know that nuclear weapons also contain EMPs? So in addition to people dying horrible deaths, those bombs will also knock out all of the electrical power and machines. Just a little something I know. Looks like Michael is going to use the microwave as an EMP to knock out the TV in the guard tower. And it totally works. Michael’s binocular lens obviously gives off some sort of glare because when he turns back to look at the guard, the man is aiming a rifle at him and shoots.
Pandemonium erupts in Sona with word that the guards are coming in. Lechero orders T-Bag to protect Nun McHoochie and the two of them go off running. The rest of the prisoners assemble in the main quad on their knees. The colonel comes in, telling Lechero that the guard believes he saw a rifle pointed at him (which was just Michael’s binocular).
Linc and Sofia are taking a walk on the beach now. The two of them start digging in the sand. No, scratch that. Sofia takes a seat to sun herself while Linc is digging. Wow, she’s just like me. I too believe that all the heavy lifting and digging should be done by men. We have the babies, it’s a fair trade.
T-Bag is trying to reassure Nun McHoochie about her place is Lechero’s heart and the two narrowly avoid being detected by the guards who are searching the prison. The guards find Michael’s binocular and put a chain and lock to close up Michael’s cell. The guards start beating up guys to find out whose cell it is and Michael finally admits it’s his. Michael takes a beating and the guard aims at gun at his head, demanding to know why Michael was watching him.
The guard starts counting down from five in Spanish and Whistler speaks up, saying the binocular lens is his. He says that he was using the lens to watch birds and takes out the bird book to prove it. The guards buy this story and file out.
Michael runs back to his cell and is very upset to find it locked up. He starts desperately grabbing for the microwave that’s locked inside but can’t reach it.
Lechero goes back to retrieve Nun McHoochie, who’s in a rush to leave. We see that she’s lifted money from Lechero, but T-Bag steps in and says he gave her the money. Lechero doesn’t appreciate T-Bag’s interference and smacks him one good.
Whistler’s badgering Michael about the modified plan, but Michael wants to be alone with his genius brain to come up with Plan…what? C? F? M? How many plans has he had so far?
Lincoln shows Sofia what he bought at the dive shot earlier. Whatever it is, it’s their “getaway vehicle”, which Linc buries in the sand. I’m assuming its diving masks or something and they’re going to escape by going underwater. When they re-enter the jungle to leave the beach we see that they’re very close to Sona.
The drug guy pays Sucre, but thinks that since Sucre muled for him once, he’ll mule for him twice (and maybe more). Sucre starts to regret his decisions, but takes another package.
Mexican Martin approaches Whistler and says that he recognizes him from Nice, France in 1997. Whistler denies knowing him, but Mexican Martin says that Whistler was with an ambassador. Michael and Mahone look at Whistler suspiciously, but their need for a new plan gets in the way.
Mahone reveals what he noticed in his drug-induced haze: that the guard was drinking from the cup Mahone later found on the floor. The boys decide to go after the cup to get to the guard.
